  • We are excited to have you all down on the farm for a good couple days or solid learning. This course we will be focusing on a range of practices surrounding organic vegetable growing for family & community. We will be hands on, in a practical way, not just hearing, but seeing, doing and implementing our planning and theory. We will realistically set out plots of pumpkin, sweet potato, white potato, cassava and maize for year-round supply for a family, and also plan for continuous vegetable and herb supply, working out how much space you need, and how much you need to plant, and how often in order to have continuous supply. We will learn about all the different plant's needs, how to propagate them, harvest planting material, plant them and how to care for your plots to ensure good crops of healthy disease and pest free plants.

Day 1
  • Culturing microbes / making simple hot compost (no turning) 

  • Simple Compost Tea brewing DIY equipment build & application

  • Soil cultivation / preparing land / amending soil

  • Green manure planting

Day 2

  • Vegetable Audit & how to plan for weekly supply

  • Mapping out plots and organizing your crops

  • Planting bulk storage crops, greens and herbs, 20+ common types of veg

  • Good organic management practices for healthy crops

  • Fertigation and irrigation basic

  • Seed Saving

Due to the hands-on nature of the course, we will only be providing a light lunch, tea and coffee. If you are a heavy eater and still function well physically, please bring yourself some extra food.
